Then you&#8217;ll have to pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/go-kiruna.com\/en\/ice-hotel-jukkasjaarvi\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1989\">Ice Hotel<\/a>, which is very well signposted, and drive on for another<strong> 900 meters <\/strong>or so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll then come to a<strong> roundabout<\/strong>, on which stands <a href=\"https:\/\/go-kiruna.com\/en\/jukkasjarvi-church\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1982\">the Jukkasj\u00e4rvi church<\/a> and <strong>museum<\/strong>. You can then park in front of it, although spaces are sometimes <strong>a little limited<\/strong> at busy times, but never enough to get stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also get here by bus, taking <strong>route 501<\/strong> and stopping at <em>Jukkasj\u00e4rvi Kyrkan<\/em>. The journey from Kiruna takes <strong>around forty <\/strong>minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On foot, from the Ice Hotel or the center of Jukkasj\u00e4rvi, allow<strong> around 15 minutes <\/strong>. They are also known for their colorful traditional clothing, as well as for their handicrafts, called <em>duodji<\/em> with weavings, <strong>jewelry<\/strong> and carved wooden objects. The <strong>revitalization of<\/strong> the S\u00e1mi language and culture is an important issue for the community.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, over the centuries, the s\u00e1mi have faced many challenges and assimilation policies. Modernization, <strong>urbanization<\/strong> and environmental change have also had an impact on their traditional way of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, however, there has been a revival of pride in and claim to <strong>the S\u00e1mi identity<\/strong>, with efforts to preserve and promote their culture, language and rights as an indigenous people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00e1mi organizations, political movements and initiatives have been created to represent and <strong>defend the interests <\/strong>of this people.
